How can a Postpartum Doula help me?
Studies show that having a postpartum doula helps lower stress levels and speeds up labor recovery time. With all the technologies available to us, it is easier than ever to get appropriate postpartum support.
A postpartum online doula does regular check-ins with the new parents. Personally, in each visit I must conduct a postpartum assessment. Doing so will help to ensure both parents are doing OK. If necessary, she will recommend seeing a doctor based on the results of the assessment.
Did you know there are three stages of labor? My Baby Lady will educate you on what to expect and be available to support you as you go through each stage.
Mood Swings or Depression?
Here are the Stats:
%
The women experiencing Baby Blues in the first few weeks of postpartum
%
The woman that experience postpartum depression or anxiety
%
Percentage of partners that also become depressed when mother suffers from PPD
*stats from MGH Center
Some medical professionals think that these statistics are actually low. They estimate that up to 50% more may experience postpartum mood disorders than reported. Parents who have a history of mental health concerns are more suspectable to postpartum mood disorders, and it is advised that partners and care providers watch for signs, as there are treatments, such as temporarily using medication, and talk therapy.

Example of One of my Postpartum Support Services:
From virtual check-up visits, guidance to parenting, or in-person help. Take the example of my services with Brandy after her second birth. She already had an active, energetic 3 ½ year old daughter when she came home with a newborn baby girl.
Brandi and her husband were fortunate in that they were both able to take parental leave. That allowed him to really give their older daughter the attention mom couldn’t quite give her. Mom was facing the demands of a new baby and her own healing. I was able to assist in light housekeeping while she and the girls napped, and meals were arranged for the first 10 days. Visitors were discouraged, and the doorbell was deactivated.
Not every new couple or single parent has the same luxury. Some new moms have to go back to work much sooner than they would like. That is why each postpartum plan is so unique.
